Contrary to what astronomers have been expecting, the universe will not experience spectacular collisions of supermassive stars in the near future, according to astrophysicists from the University of Warsaw?s Astronomical Observatory working under the leadership of Krzysztof Belczyński, PhD hab., a beneficiary of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP).

Their research was conducted with support from a subsidy that Belczyński received in the FNP?s MISTRZ programme (2012 edition).

The details of the Warsaw scientists? discovery can be found here.
